In our global effort to assist those countries struck by the Tsunami disaster, Uniglobe Travel is channelling its resources to re-stimulate long-term economic sustainability and revive tourism in the regions affected. With this in mind, Uniglobe Travel has chosen Plan International (in Canada known as the Foster Parents Plan) as our global charity. This is a logical fit as both company’s relief objectives focus on long-term recovery and sustainability.

The initiative named “Rebuilding Hope – The UNIGLOBE Way” has two key objectives:

1.To provide support and assistance to families in need, with a specific focus in 2005 on the Tsunami disaster, by facilitating donations and child sponsorship to Plan International.

2.To promote travel and tourism on a global scale to the affected regions. This is crucial to many of the countries as they are heavily reliant on the tourism industry for over 30% of their GDP.

We are encouraging Regions/Agencies to designate August 2005 as a “Tourism Revival month” to promote and encourage travel to the area.
All Uniglobe members are invited to attend the UNIGLOBE South Asia Regional Conference which will be held in Bangkok, Thailand from August 13^th to 15^th.
